Hi there,
I have a friends RS-505 shimano shifter/brake lever that is not catching the tooth ring once you try to go into lower the gears (aka pulling the cable).
I opened the shifter mechanism and it seems to me that the spring of the hammer that turns the tooth ring has malfunctioned. As far as i know it's not fixable. Anyone has any advice?
Getting a new one is very dificult because it's a fairly old lever and i can't get it new.
And on the other hand i was told that the 7020 Ulterga fill not "fit" because of different pressure system that it uses.
What are some if the others levers that are compatible with rs-505 (its a 105 range)?
Shifter lever problem, what to do?

You probably already tried it, but sometimes the teeth that catch the wratchet get stuck on some old gardens grease. Try hitting it with break cleaner and some lubrication after and see if it returns to life.
