  10. Brighton 1964 was good but it was the 1st year of proper Mods on Lambrettas and Vespas. Previous bank holidays we would go on all sorts of scooters like Zundapps and Maicolettas and basically anything that looked like a scooter :). 1965 was when it really kicked off and was really busy; police put up road blocks to stop us getting to Brighton. When we eventually managed to arrive the police corralled everyone on the beach to the left of the pier for 6 hours. No toilets, no drink. They couldn't do that these days. In 1966 we decided to try somewhere else and headed for Hastings. I still have a copy of the the Sunday Pictorial with the Headline – 'Battle of Hastings 1066 – 1966'. it was hectic and police reinforcements were drafted in from all over even though we were not doing anything wrong , just going there for the Bank Holiday. For Brighton 2024 to be more realistic you need loads of police worried the Mods were going to cause havoc when actually we were then as nice as the Mods are today. The Guildford & Godalming Boys are now all in our late 70's early 80's but we still get together but mostly at funerals……Ziggy Zagger, Ziggy Zagger, Oi Oi Oi .
