Hi All, I’m planning an eight or nine day trip up into the Alps in a couple of weeks. I’m probably going to be on tarmac for most of the time with the occasional foray onto gravel. I have Vittoria Terreno Graphene 2.0 tires (2.25 inch XC tires) that have been great but the rear tire is due a change and I want to try something new. As the trip will have significant climbing on road I want to go for something a little faster rolling, so I’m thinking 50, maybe 45mm tires, with very little tread. Any anyone has suggestions I’d really appreciate it!

Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H 45. It rolls fine on asphalt and it’s ok for hard, compact gravel.
running tubeless schwalbe g-one allround 40mm, rolling quite well, no issues with gravel
I see that you have a Riverside touring 920. Happy with it? I’ve been looking at it for a year now…
I’ve seen comments saying that the rear breaks are kinda weak. Dangerous even if the bike is heavy. Any truth in it ?
What bike is this?
A fellow Riverside 920 owner. 😊Happy to see it in the wild.
thunder burt. better rolling resistance and slightly better grip on gravel but less durable
My experience with **Tufo Thundero 44mm**: Easy tubeless installation, low rolling resistance on tarmac and gravel, good grip, long lasting.
I will buy them again, but next time in 40mm so they will fit my mudguards better.
Is the second picture from the Lavaux?
I’ve got that bike, not many about. Got mine just after Covid. USB charging is great
Continental RaceKing is (almost) always the answer. Why? just have a look at: [https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/mtb-reviews](https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/mtb-reviews)
The Schwalbe ThunderBurt might serve you well too, but I dont have any experience with it as of now
I can recommend the Fleecer Ridge TC Tire from Rene Herse.
It’s made for bike packing. Good grip and very silent.
Lael Wilcox drove them on Tour Divide last year.
Ive become a bit of a snob with my tyres recently: I run Rene Herse Stiela Cooms for the dirt and Snoqualmie Pass for road/light dirt and gravel. Super plush, tubeless, and not break the bank expensive. Sure, its still an $85 tyre but damn theyre real nice.
Schwalbe marathon plus.
Race king protection tires are great and fast. But they don’t last too long. Vittoria Mezcal are s more durable alternative.
