A month ago i got a new bike. The canyon spectral 6 (it was in a good discount from 2800€ to 2000€). I am planning to take the bike to bike parks and i wondering if the 150mm fork and shock are enough. When landing a jump perfectly it feels great but from a case on one jump i had i am a bit concerned as to if i can ride double black diamond trails.

Btw here are some pictures of the bike when it was new for you:

  1. Go check out Skills with Phil on YouTube. Guy strictly rides a 140mm bike and he rides the absolute shit out of it with 0 issues.

  2. Yeah the new spectral has a bit less travel than the previous version – 160mm. But it is still a cat 4 class so you can send it.

So still a great bike, the issue is not it but your skill level. Usually 150mm is enough but as always you need good technique.
On double diamond there little margin of error, casing can damage any wheel, any bike. The classification is done with proper technique always.

Again some people can do black diamond on 130 or 140mm, some even on DJ, will you bet able to do that? My guess is not.

People should stop comparing themselves to excellent/pro rider, if you are here, and having such question I guess you are not.

Also the real question is that will you enjoy riding a black diamond on this bike with “only” 150m? Maybe, maybe not.

Personally, I like having always at least 160mm, go with 180 when going from red because I love the error margin and some comfort. I can always rent a low travel bike for few hours for the fun.
