what’s a reasonably attainable low standover height trail bike. 120-140mm travel is cool. I started riding a 2020 trek fuel ex 5. It’s my first full suss bike and I like it. Especially with the high volume 27.5 x 2.6” tires, it’s super… floaty. Also having the dropper is nice. Prior to this I’ve been riding a 2008 NS Bitch with 140mm pike up front and 26/24 2.4” tires. It’s a little long for me but the super low height makes it very easy for me to move my weight around and move the bike however I need to. It’s a very active experience. The newer full sus bike I can ride certain things a lot easier and I like how much energy I save with it, but i can’t really manipulate the bike much. It’s a very passive experience. But for some steep rocky off camber sections I feel stuck on top of the bike and if I’m not feeling confident I can’t dab easily or even bail.
Anyway, feel like I’m not getting the full advantages of a full suss bike, at least for my trails, because I can’t comfortably ride it even at it’s lowest height. So what are some good frames or bikes I can look into that will offer a much lower seat height and standover?
