The head tube takes more stress than any other part of the bike.
Your whole life rides on the front of the bike. When something goes wrong out back you walk home. Up front, you ride in an ambulance.

I think a lot of folks here are jumping the gun. With an alloy frame a crack like that is probably just in the paint. Sand/scrape that section of paint and see what’s happening under that before you throw the whole thing.

Definitely not! Frame damage on any bike compromises the safety of your bike. One bump and you can flip over those handlebars.

Buy a vintage steel frame and swap the parts. Vintage aluminum ages about as well as canned goods. You can use it after 20 years, but it’s hit or miss.

If cracked thru, return to whoever sold it as defective. Once they know, they could be sued if someone is injured (idk who’d win.)

Just from the little I can see, it looks like the stem may have been raised too high. This would put extra stress (leverage) on the headtube.
