Hey all. Planning a 3-day/2-night in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I have been wanting to visit this region of Mexico for quite some time. While I do appreciate touring in the countryside of a place, I have a thing for coastal cities surrounded by mountains. I have been planning a route using a combination of Gaia GPS, Komoot, Google Earth, and local MTB tracks & Gravel roads in the region to make this as offroad as possible.
I am having a little trouble with the first leg from Puerto Vallarta to La Estancia in terms of the track that I found. According to Gaia GPS and Google Earth, there is a gravel road through there but on some maps, it just doesn’t appear. I wanted to know if there is anyone who has ridden in this region before, and if so can you share some insights on whether or not this segment would be doable?
I’m a little concerned about the tight scales on the map and this would be my hardest day of the trip with a 4k ft climb from sea level. I have an alternative route as well that is also gravel but it will make the mileage a bit longer on day one.
All help, thoughts, and advice are greatly appreciated.
