Hi all,

First post here, and I'd be very grateful for your thoughts. As above – is there any reason not to use the XT SL-T8000 trekking shifter on a 10-speed MTB setup?

https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deorext-t8000/SL-T8000-R.html#:~:text=For%20reliable%20shifting%20in%20all,texture%20on%20the%20main%20paddle.

The bike has a full Deore 10-speed transmission which is good enough when clean but I'd like a snappier feeling shifter. I don't want to buy everything needed for 12-speed and I'd rather not buy an older, used XT shifter,.

Just wondering if there is any mechanical reason not go for it, or if there are other 10-speed options for Shimano.

Many thanks!
