Finding the right fit for bike

Hi. Looking for some advice about which direction to go for bike:

  1. I own a 2014 Cannondale super six evo 5 (similar pictured) carbon and 56 cm. It has an older 105 groupset. I want to continue enjoying the bike, but I feel stretched forward now (after back surgery) and can’t seem to get comfortable. Should I get a bike fit, buy new carbon handlebars/seatpost (0mm offset?), and later upgrade wheel set and/or groupset?

Or

  1. Purchase a newer endurance bike? Maybe a Trek Domane SL or AL 5 or Cannondale Synapse? Maybe a smaller size like 54cm?

Thanks for the tips.

  1. I would say yes to bike fit, but before that you could try using a shorter stem and shorten the reach or flipping your current stem to bring your hands higher. I think the stock stem on that model is a C3 31.8mm 6deg but idk what length was included on the 56cm.
