Hello, I'm looking for a bike that could hopefully fit my needs. My budget is $300 or less. I'm looking for a good bike that works well on gravel, the road, and has fenders because it rains a lot where I live. I would also like the bike to have a rear rack or front basket, or both, where I can put my backpack or lunchbox.

This was the bike I was going to buy, but scrolling through reviews, I saw a lot of recommendations not to buy bikes from Walmart. I don't know if the same is true for Academy.

This is the same bike you would get at Walmart, and having built that exact bike before I can tell you – they are poor quality and will not have any longevity. The fenders are paper thin and likely to move and rub the tires and the baskets can’t hold a lot of weight like a backpack

The advice I tell people without a lot of bike knowledge or budget is to look for a non-profit or community bike shop, they common in big cities and college towns and see about finding a refurbished bike, they are often sold at your $250 price point and this way you are supporting the community not Walmart and you can get a better (but older) bike that should fit your needs and is safe!

I would look for a Hybrid over a Cruiser. Fenders and bike racks can be added to nearly all frames these day. Good luck!
