Hi, I’ve recently been doing up a vintage Peugeot racing bike. However the ware and tear on the pins for the suicide levers has left them with rattle/play. There’s a pin through it so I can’t tighten them and don’t want to replace them as they work great otherwise. Any creative solutions? Thanks!

Happens very often! If the rattle bothers you, you could try to put some between the ‘contact points’ to soften the sound
These were never built with any kind of tight tolerances. To be blunt, hopefully not rude, but you’re asking why junk parts are still junk 30-40 years later. They just suck, take them off.
Wish they still did this, id look into either drilling out and repinnining or adding material to reduce the rattle.
Do they work great though, really? Even if someone else gets the bike and doesn’t keep up with brake adjustment?
Wouldn’t it be better long term to swItch out to regular levers?
There is a reason they got that name.
I’ve never heard of these described as “suicide” levers. Especially when they’re the opposite of that description. They’re simply safety levers, and they’re always janky looking.
I used to have these, years ago, when I first started to ride. They were never tight. Would always wobble. But they worked. Yours are less wobbly than mine. So wouldn’t worry

Many many years ago I remember trying those brakes. They were wobbly, and didn’t brake that well.
They are almost always like this, even back in the 80s.
Buy cheap crap you tend to get cheap crap.
