you can get rid of it – it prevents your chain from going into the spokes, but that shouldn’t realistically happen anyways. Maybe ride it a couple times to make sure everything is setup correctly.
I cut mine off my other bike with a pair of heavy duty scissors

Trash it. You don’t want to ride around with a dork disc.

I heated up a straight edge with a blow torch and then cut it off – so easy and weirdly satisfying.

The dork disc is cool.  You have to keep it on there as a show of solidarity with your Canyon Bros.

I cut mine off as well.

Just saying… you don’t have to cut it.
You can remove the wheel, pull the cassette out, and it comes right off with a small turn.

You can just pull the cassette off that’s attached with the free hub body and take it off.
No need for a lock ring tool.

Mine got stuck somehow on my first ride and shattered into 3 pieces after it fell off. I guess it was meant to be off.

I never do. I had a buddy with a high end Scott and his chain leapt over into the spokes for some reason. Wrecked him and hurt his knee.
But yeah, if you do want to remove it; learn about adjusting your rear derailleur first.

Mine self destructed after I dropped off a sidewalk, dislodged it because it was so loose.I thought I broke a derailleur. Was during the first ride.

Keep it on there if you have no idea what it is.
