We had such high hopes for the day! We had successfully made it to Reading and were ready to tackle our first long ride of the bike tour. What should have been a 50km ride turned into only 10kms. We started off a little shaky with issues with our gps taking us in the wrong direction/in circles. We had a fun encounter with the geese blocking our path. After we walked down and up a humongous hill Chris and I were chatting. I asked what a popped tire sounded like. He said you’ll know and that he’s never had one before! Not even a minute later I hear the hissing sound of the air leaving his tube. I couldn’t help but laugh at the situation! But what we thought would be an easy fix turned into a day long test of trying to get the tire back on the wheel. The tire was so tight we ended up tearing the tire and popping the new tube in the process. So we had to walk all the way back to where we came from that morning to the bike shop. Who then also struggled to get a new tire on. A couple hours later we finally got it and headed to the train station. Then the thunderstorms hit which delayed our train to Oxford. But we got there in the end around 8pm at night.
