I decided to go ahead and order my last ever frame and forks. I won't build another BMX after this. I figure I have 5 years of BMX riding left (I'm 54 and a half) and I already have two decent 20" BMX builds in good shape so 3 in total should see me through.
I went for the Tall Order 187, and I decided on a white frame, with chrome Tall Order forks and a silver Federal headset. My other BMX are all stealth black. This is my grand finale bike 🙂
The dilemma is…
I have spare parts that I could add to this frame to start riding it, or, I could just wait until I can build the whole thing with new parts chosen especially.
The spare parts I could build it with are not great parts. Basic 19mm 8 spline Mission cranks in black when ideally I want 22mm 48 spline cranks in chrome.
Would you wait until you can buy all ideal fresh parts in the right colorways? Or would you bunker-raid whatever crap is lying around in order to ride the frame as soon as possible?
I'm impatient, but I also think it would be good to wait…ie to not fit a 19mm BB and then a month later need to knock it out and fit a 22mm. To not use crap cheap old wheels but wait for fresh ones.
Crappy pic added of new frame/forks with some old parts on, just to decorate a load of words.

If money isn’t an issue then just wait as the build will feel fresh with new parts.
Parts I *can* fit right now…
Stranger seat on Federal post (shown)
Union Motorcade bars and Kink Stem (shown)
Trebol 25t sprocket black
165mm Mission Transit cranks black
S&M pedals off my 24″ bike black
Cult half link chain off my 24″ bike black
Then, off my Fly, take the…
Mankind front wheel
Mission freecoaster rear wheel
Kink Sever 2.4 tires
And it would be a brakeless set up
Make it count, if you can afford it brother
in 25 + years of riding I’ve never had a complete new build so if I was in your shoes id wait until you can get all the bits you want and build that grand finale Bmx.
