I live in a block of 6 flats and we have a key to a shared garage with this bike rack. I’ve just got my first road bike, nothing expensive only a few hundred quid second hand but I’m wondering how can I lock it to this efficiently as a D lock won’t fit around the frame AND the bike rack.
The rack itself isn’t the best so I suppose the easiest way for them to steal the bike if an expensive lock is on it is to cut the rack so I don’t really want to spend over the odds on a lock/chain. The garage isn’t far from my flat, it’s not a big building.
Any advice on what lock to buy would be appreciated.

It doesn’t matter as much about what lock you’re attaching to the rack as the metal is so thin it’s trivial to cut through.
My feeling would be a D-Lock through the frame and rear wheel with a cable running through the front wheel and around the rack. Then a motorcycle chain lock through the frame and around the rack. The idea being that a really heavy chain still attached to the bike makes it a pain to move after they’ve cut through the rack.
Even though it’s not allowed I would (and did) drill a hole into the concrete and fit in some shackles to allow you to lock to the floor
Hardware store – length of chain + clear tubing + padlock. In theory only your neighbours will be going in here and it has some other kind of lock, a door or whatever already. Is that *sand* on the ground?
Honestly, I wouldn’t. Unless you live in Japan.
