Hey All,
I recently bought an Endurace CF 8 DI2 as my first road bike, and have a few days left on my 30 day return policy.
I've put about 180 miles on the bike and over the last 60 or so miles I've been getting a lot of vibration and humming feeling through the pedals when in one of the higher gears and i'm putting a lot of force through the pedal. I've searched around and it seems like this might be from 'Chordal Action'. I called Canyon and they said to take it to a LBS and have them tighten the crank. I took it in and they regreased the bottom bracket and tightened the cranks and I'm still getting the same issue. The LBS said it should cause any problems and not to worry about it but its pretty annoying… You can also feel it through the pedal when the bike is upside down on the floor and changing gears.
Has anyone else had issues with that vibration feeling through the pedals in higher gears? I'm wondering if its common on all bikes or I just got an unlucky one.
I'm debating returning the endurace and either rebuying the same exact model or getting the Ultimate CF SL 7 AXS. Both Bikes are about the same price right now with the Ultimate going on Sale. The main trade offs would be going from ultegra di2 to 105 di2 / sram rival etap and I would get a powermeter in the ultimate.
I just ride for fun, Solo/Friends/Group rides and won't be doing any races or anything like that.
It looks like the geometries of the two bikes are very similar and with the canyon spacers added to the ultimate the stack height would be pretty close to the same as the Endurace.
My main concern is comfortability for one and potentially the reach. (I already moved my seat forward a bit on the endurace to make the reach more comfortable)
Is there really much difference if any in the Ultimate with spacers vs the Endurace and Ultegra vs 105 di2 or sram rival etap? The powermeter would be a nice addition to have for the same price. I would also like to put a rear tail light on the seatpost and tightening a light around the dual post seatpost on the endurace defeats the purpose of it.

Is your chain installed in the right direction? The side with letters should be facing out of the bike for Shimano.
I’m not an expert, but there’s vibrations when on high gear on my bikes with Ultegra and 105. And the vibrations between the two bikes feel very similar. Isn’t it because the chain is not a perfect circle and the smaller the sprocket, the higher vibration?
Perhaps try a friend’s bike and compare the level of vibrations between the two?
Not really answering your question but you shouldn’t use saddle fore/aft to compensate for reach, do that with stem swap or rotating hoods a little bit upward. Saddle position should be set in relation to BB for your leg rotations to be comfortable and efficient.
As for vibrations: I do feel them on my Aeroad when the chain starts needing relubing or is worn out. Felt them on all of my bikes, but it’s hard to tell if what you feel is the same.
I experienced some vibration with an Endurace SLX with SRAM Force but on mostly just the highest gear and under heavier load. Seemed to be a cross chaining issue where the chain would get caught a bit on front chainring and when it would finally let go then cause the chain and hence pedals to vibrate. Supposedly this sometimes happens with newer chains? This was also with just the lube the chain came with from factory. Maybe with more lube as well as on the teeth of the cogs this issue would have been fixed.
I returned that bike for a different size though and opted for Ultegra Di2 and haven’t experienced any vibration issues. But I did wax my chain. I’m also rarely on the highest gears now as when I started riding my cadence was much lower.
Which pedals and shoes are you using? I don’t think I’ve ever had that vibration issue. There are roads with repeating features that can give odd sensations but that’s not the norm. I’ve heard weight balance can also affect handling/vibrations. Are you running the same tires front and rear? Tubeless or tubed?
