I have been on the hunt for a helmet for several weeks now. I use an electric bike that is a PAS 3, but I do have a throttle that is good for 20.5 mph as well. The pedal assist maxes out at 33 – 34 mph. I have not been a fan of the bicycle helmets I have seen lately, I feel that because of how fast I can go with pedal assist a full face helmet is more appropriate.
I could be wrong which is why I am hoping to get feedback and opinions. I use my bike for everything and it is my commuting vehicle when I have to go into the office also. I have a 7 mile total commute – home to work and back home.
I did try on a Bell Super Air R MIPs helmet but the jaw of the helmet was not DH rated. The bell I have found has a DH rated jawline, during my search I found this Smith helmet. I really like the style of it as it appears the Smith helmet contours around your head rather than being fully spherical like the Bell helmet(if that makes sense).
I read both descriptions for each helmet and watched a YouTube video for each but I am stumped. I feel they are both good helmets but I am leaning towards the Smith because of the style.
Does anyone here have either helmet and if they do what are your thoughts? If you don't have either one, would you wear either one of these? Why or why not?
They are both expensive helmets but I want to know my head is protected. I can move very fast so I want to make sure I'm protected the best as possible.
