This was the capstone of a week long bike tour from Pittsburgh to DC. I had family with me for 7 days to Harper's Ferry, but for logistical reason (and predicted exhuastion) they planned to end their ride there. I put in one more day to press on to DC so I can say I did the GAP and C&O in one trip. Most days were around 40 miles, but to do the last leg in one day I had to stretch a bit further.

For those unfamiliar with the trails. The Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail was a rail line connecting Pittsburgh, PA to Cumberland, MD. The Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal Towpath was a path along a canal that follows the Potomac River from Cumberland, MD to Washington, DC. Since both the canal and the rail line are no longer in use, they've both been converted to gravel bike trails. They join together in Cumberland and total over 300 miles.
