I’ve been interested in getting more into road biking and have been looking to upgrade and get a decent bike to get more into it. I came across this 56cm specialized allez bike listed at $600. I don’t know a whole lot about bikes or what a good price would be. Can anyone help me guide me on if there is anything I should be looking for or asking and what price they think would be fair for this? Any help is appreciated thanks

  1. That’s a solid option for a first bike. Good components and nice geometry. It’s not something you’ll grow out of in any sense.
First thing is make sure the bike fits you. Secondly, $600 for a nine year old bike is a lot. I’d like to see this closer to $400-$450 USD

  2. I wouldn’t pay over $350-400 for that, assuming it’s in fantastic shape. I’d try and bargain down to $300

If it fits you well, great first bike

  3. It’s a decent bike and ought to fit you.

The price might be a tad high, but if it’s in ready to go shape, it’s not so bad. Consider you could spend $100-$300 on tires, cables, pads, cassette/chain, chainrings, etc. if it’s not.

Examine the bike closely and make your offer accordingly, taking into account what it needs.
