This change is more or less the nail in the coffin for dual 275 builds for taller riders in the US market. Particularly that are affordable. There are some older hangers ons models, like Commencal Clash, some Yetis, Pivot Shadowcat, and old Giants but if those aren't re-released and are just old stock… They will be gone eventually. Kona also implies some dual 27 old stock will be re-released essentially but the updated models of that build are 29 or MX only.
What's your take on wheel sizing? MX is perfectly fine and more than makes up for the loss of dual 27? 29 is all anyone needs regardless, particularly at taller heights?
Anyways, just wanted to say RIP to the 27s. Fun front wheel afaic… And tends to taco less as alloy lol. Now would be a great time to bring back 26s hey? Sigh…

I guess the Rift Zone isn’t getting a new frame this year
Get a transition scout while you still can
I just want my 2023 carbon to get a rear triangle with a universal hanger!!!
I love 27.5’s, I ride one, but the writing has been on the wall for a while that it’s being replaced by MX. My next bike will be MX, probably a SC Bronson, next spring.
It is what it is. I like 27.5 wheels but am coming to accept I will be forced into mixed wheels on my next bike. I’d actually be down with an xc 29er but for just about everything else I prefer being able to throw the bike around.
I still laugh that while all this is happening we had some pros riding rampage with mullet 27.5 front 26 rear. Most of them riding tubes too.
My dual 27.5 Jeffsy collecting dust in my garage is becoming a unicorn 😅 it is a shame companies are moving away from it, but I guess that’s where the market is trending. Buy a good 27.5 frame while you still can I guess!
I love my Jeffsy but it’s a lotta bike for most of my riding these days, so it only gets pulled out for light DH and jumps. I *really* prefer 27.5 for jumping, like all 7 days of the week.
DH bikes are still mostly 27.5 thankfully.Â
