After many years of pleading and negotiating, I received my grandfather’s 1948 Carlton. I’m not sure of the exact model.
I’m going to restore it back to its original canary yellow and get period correct Carlton decals and maybe a new Brooks saddle.

You should consider joining the facebook group “Carlton Cycles of Worksop”. There are people that used to work at the factory in the group. There is a lot of expertise in the group to help you restore your grandfather’s bike.
