I've had this frame laying around since I won it in an ebay auction a few years back and it was time to get it together and put some miles in on it.

Kind of went my own way with it so far and I'm anxious to see how it will ride. I'm still waiting on the Bottom bracket so I can get the cranks, pegs and chain on.

The bully 36t sprocket does not seem to clear the back brakes with the 9t gears of the new wheels, I'm hoping the Haro nuke sprocket I have will clear the back brakes but we will have to see. Hopefully not bonerkill.

The bike weighs 21.8 lbs right now, so I'm sure it will get loaded down with the cranks and pegs.

I'm wondering on how much weight I would save with new bars, cranks and lighter pegs.

The cranks and pegs feel like they will add 6lbs or so but I will get a final weight and reupdate when all the parts get in and on.

I have checked out newer flatland frames and seen that some of them are 4-5lbs compared to the 7-8 lbs this 540 Air weighs.

Anyways, thanks for checking it out and recommendations on pegs and bars would be cool. I haven't ridden it yet, so I'm not sure what to change to, but my wife enjoys the 2001 Shredder I was planning on using the Forks, stem, cranks and bars from. So if I get all that stuff I can put the Shredder back together.

  1. Very cool. I still have my 2002 540 Air frame/fork/handlebar/stem/various parts from my teens in the basement and I’ve been wanting to get it back to its glory days. What bolts did you use for your stem? I have the same one and last I saw the bolts were all rusty looking.
