➽ PALEOKASTRITSA BEACH FUN FACT
Palaiokastritsa meaning Old Castle place, is a village in northwestern Corfu, Greece. Corfu has been suggested to be the mythical island of the Phaeacians and the bay of Palaiokastritsa to be the place where Odysseus disembarked and met Nausicaa for the first time. The monastery in Palaiokastritsa, which dates from 1225, houses a museum.
Palaiokastrites was a former municipality on the island of Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece. Its including area was defined around the original village of Palaiokastritsa. ➽ CANAL D’AMOUR FUN FACT
Located only 40 kilometres from the town of Corfu Canal D’Amour is considered to be a miracle of the Mother Nature. It lies between Sidari and Peroulades and it is an attractions visited annually by a large amount of tourists.
It’s name means the Canal of Love and it is unique in the whole area of the Mediterranean.
It is a beach of exceptional beauty with unique characteristics. The rocks have different shades of yellow and lots of greenery at the top.
One can reach these stunning coves through several paths and steps. With beautiful crystalline waters, the Canal of Love is one of the most unique spots in Corfu.
Its white rocks have been taken circular formations due to the force of the sea reminding us an exotic destination. The beach is not recommended when it is windy. This beautiful place has, though, so many things to offer.
Because of the force of the sea the rocks have been turned into peculiar circular formations that lie in several spots of the beach. Follow the paths and find more of these peculiar rocks with the interesting formations. In your way you can also find many coves or even caves.
The Canal took its name because of the story of the woman from France. She came here and discovered first the secret cave, where she had the chance to be with her lover.
Because of that fact it is now considered that each couple that crosses the canal together will stay in love forever!
➽ HALIKOUNAS BEACH FUN FACT
Halikounas Corfu: Halikounas beach is ideally located 25 km southwestern of Corfu town. The sandy beach that stretches for more than 3 km is considered one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the Ionian complex.
Halikounas is a nice alternative for peaceful holidays with sand dunes and wonderful crystalline waters which guarantee a fun swimming experience especially for the children. It lacks any kind of tourist facilities thus it almost looks deserted. In case you don’t want to be at the centre of attention, there are some nice and isolated spots on either side of the beach for total privacy.
Halikounas is ideal for those who love water sports as well. A road separates the beach with the famous Lake Korission, one of the main attractions of the area which is the home for numerous endangered bird species.
It is nestled in the midst of green rolling hills where one comes across verdant olive groves, citrus orchards and beautiful vineyards.
Many modern amenities are found in a close distance like hotels, restaurants and bars. From Halikounas, you have a perfect view to an ancient monastery perched on the top of Mount Agios Mattheos. The beach is located 5 km from the popular resort of Agios Georgios.
