  1. They’re a lil stiff yeah. If you want the comfort and keep the aesthetic the selle San Marco rolls saddle is much comfier imo. Fwiw I’m 220lbs

Same here, I use Terry Liberator Y saddles for most of bikes for the past 10-15 years

I have an Yellow Turbo from the 90s but didn’t dare to use it yet. They are to havy and scary

My first “I’m old” moment was sitting on a saddle without a pressure relief cutout for your crotch.

    I cant go back.

my sit bones are too far apart and this style of saddle gives way too much unwanted pressure for me.

  6. Most of the older seats don’t do it for me personally. WTB Pure V all the way on all my bikes. You only touch the bike at the grips, saddle, and pedals. Those are the most important for your comfort.

Probably depends on your position. I have an old Gitane road bike, and I LOVE the Turbo saddle that’s on it. My hips are pretty rolled forward when I’m riding.

  8. They were awesome saddles…in 1987.

Seriously, saddle technology…pressure mapping, ergonomics, materials, etc…has moved forward considerably since these were the go-to option. I liked my Turbo saddles, still have one, but I don’t ride them anymore.

Also, the Turbo was a racing saddle, intended for high intensity riding where pedal/leg force would reduce some of the pressure on the cyclist’s posterior (create a small but meaningful “lift” effect). Turbos are a poor option for low intensity riding where one’s nether regions are settling “full force” on the saddle.

    Nice looking Stumpie, BTW.
