Am i right in thinking that the bolt im moving is supposed to go the whole way through and not be two different parts?
This is not mended by just tightening something, right?

It’s your axle. You can get an axle kit. I would check the inside of the hub to make sure it is worth putting money into it before ordering one.

If you don’t have the requisite wrenches and bearings and grease and a knowledge of how this all works., sometimes replacement wheel is an easier option.
As only one side moves I’d agree it’s a broken axel. They are not expensive, between (insert your currency here) 5-10 on line from eBay or Amazon and there are plenty of videos showing you how to do it. The only issue is you will need cone spanners to do it, so you may need to buy them.
