Why not panniers? Was it because he had a fat bike and couldn’t get a rock to fit or was it more about weight distribution to put so much at the front?
Well he has a rear rack on that bike. This is similar to a bike packing setup. Nothing wider than your ankles down low to avoid catching on shrubs and rocks. Since a bike is rear weighted by nature it’s not a bad idea to move some weight forward, bulky lower weight items (sleeping bags) can go up front to keep from making handling too odd. Nothing but respect and love for Iohan from me. Have to get a post authored for next month to introduce people to him who haven’t heard his story. RIP
