  1. The issue with combining such a large range rear cassette and a double chainring is that it’s going to exceed the capacity (ability to maintain chain tension over a wide range of gear combinations) of your rear derailleur.

    A 1x GRX rear derailleur like the RD-RX822 has 41 tooth capacity. Combining a 10-45 cassette with a 30/46 crankset would need 51 tooth capacity. Usually you can exceed Shimano’s capacity or low sprocket max specs by 2-6 teeth, but doing so by 10 whole teeth is certainly pushing the limit.

    RX822 would work. Don’t mind the spec manual of shimano, they only list official build.

    The only problem is, the lightest gear ratio is 0.666, where you ride it>?
