-What routing app are you using? If you use Komoot and set to bike touring when plotting a route it will try and keep you away from busy roads
-Just a suggestion from me after 7-8 bike tours since 2017. When buying food that you can eat whereever you like for lunch, I try to buy it at say 11AM-12PM, and then eat it when I come across somewhere picturesque ideally with a bench. It makes the experience much more enjoyable for me. Obviously this depends on the weather, how you're feeling and whether you're willing to carry the supplies around for a few miles. What I do know is I try to avoid eating lunch right next to a busy road, and some of my favourite cycle holiday moments have came from pedalling my lunch up a hill and then finding a stunning view at the top of the hill. I distinctly remember this happened up in the Scottish Highlands. Will you be going up there? It's beautiful ๐Ÿ‘ŒThe North Coast 500 route is fantastic.
