Miguel Angel Lopez, known as Superman Lopez, has been sanctioned 4 years for doping with menotropin according to the UCI. The information indicated that Marcos Maynar was his doctor in a personal capacity, but however, in the judicial proceedings also appears his relationship with another team, the winner of the Volta Portugal led by Ruben Tiago Alves Pereira. In this exclusive cycling highlights have access to the prescription given by Dr. Maynar of menotropin to be received later by Ruben Pereira’s team and the whole plot between the Spanish doctor and the Portuguese team.

  1. This story has it all; Homemade drugs, federal police and payment negotiations.
Seems the young DS Rúben Pereira will have a long career of providing us entertainment of the nefarious type.

  2. great video:) It is amazing what lengths riders, sports directors and team doctors will take to cheat so the riders can win. Maybe all should take a course in morale and ethics, maybe it could help a bit. Otherwise I say the guilty ones put them in prison and ban them for entering the sporting world again. If they enter the sporting world again, then they will go to prison. Police and politics must step up and make strict laws too.

  3. Thanks for pulling out yet another well-researched and scandalous story. 👍👍 By the way, I love the channel and very much appreciate your scathing humour but, in my opinion, the rather infantile backing music runs the risk of trivialising your serious and important content. I’d consider a change there, as I note you already have in certain other videos. 🙏

  4. Two Efapel teams? And one of them just changed names to SABGAL/ANICOLOR? Portuguese cycling is very confusing. Anyway, hopefully current Efapel is slightly cleaner. Abner Gonzalez 🇵🇷 is my guy!

  5. Well done — Maynar is a character (only 18K Euros, homemade "bombs," a university salary, coming off a 9 year ban). How involved is he in Spanish cycling? Was Lopez one of many?

  6. As Christian F said already in these comments, the lengths to which these teams go to cheat is shocking.

Their systems of doping though convoluted and very nefarious, illustrates the lengths they go to to try to avoid detection.

I fully agree that only lifebans from the sport are needed, along with punitive measures such as the repayment of all prize money "earned" is what is needed. And for those penalties to have teeth, you need enforcement from nation/states.

University profesors and doctors being central to these doping operations, their academic credentials need to be invalidated i think.

If this is the level of ingenuity at lower levels of our sport in terms of doping, what is happening at the very elite levels?

Great reporting by this channel yet again. You manage to clearly explain what is a convoluted and highly nefarious doping operation.

  7. spain is the place to go por portuguese dopers, You can buy doping products without a prescription in Spain that are not possible to buy in Portugal

  8. Can you investigate the athlete that moves from Efapel (2021) to burgos bh (2022), three months after the season start he just left cycling without any explication, after a “ successful ” year ( 2021)
