I love Cannondale. I actively dislike Trek for social reasons. But a brand that simply has never gotten me excited is Merida.
There is nothing wrong with them. They make excellent bikes that can compete with the best of them. But they never sparked anything in me.
And mind you, I ocasionally get excited about new Decathlon stuff, so there’s that.

Love some of the classic Cannondales (e.g. Saeco livery – CAAD, R2000, R700… – , F700 Fatty, F3000 SL). A few decades where I didn’t care for most of them. In more recent years, I find they’ve really neatened up their road design; the current SuperSix is a beauty in my book.
Never quite liked designs with more modern looks and less classic lines, so I’m not particularly drawn to certain Cervelo or BMC models. Not a dentist anyway, phew!

None – each company has a different approach. Aesthetically a new design may not be appealing.. like the original Madone, I had one. The level of ferver and outright misinformation that was floated regarding the attempt to route flow around the rear wheel was laughable. Look at today and all bicycles that are considered aero do that…

All I wanted was a Schwinn and thought Raleighs were weird cheap knockoffs.
Later in life I learned that it was like the Schwinn of England and a top brand.
