As part of setting up a second wheel set for my bike I’m trying to upgrade a DT Swiss 370 hub (with 3 pawl ratchet) to have the same XDR freehub as my primary wheels. Goal is to have two wheel sets where swapping between them requires minimal adjustment. I’m planning to shim brake rotors, etc if needed.

I bought and installed the ratchet LN upgrade kit for my hub (https://www.competitivecyclist.com/dt-swiss-dt-swiss-ratchet-ln-freehub-body-upgrade-kit).

During install I noticed the drive side endcap that came with my hub was labeled as “XD”. I went ahead with installing the cassette since the length of the freehub body + endcap was the same for both. After, I took some measurements with the cassette installed and it sits ~1.5mm closer to its endcap than my primary wheel set. Now I’m wondering if I need an XDR specific drive side (or both) end caps or whether this is within the range of acceptable variation.

Looks like I could buy a XDR freehub with XDR endcap but not the endcap separately? https://mikesbikes.com/products/xdr-freehub-body-for-ratchet-drive-hubs-142-148

Has anyone else been in a similar situation or have a way to determine what’s compatible?
