  1. I am loving the new bike Andy, I think its perfect for the type of riding you are going to use it for. I bought a Giant earlier in the year that also had the D shaped seatpost and also D shaped dropped bars (the top part) as well and I couldn't tell any difference either. The good thing about a D shaped seat post is that your saddle will always be straight ahead. I am toying with putting flat bars on my touring bike as well as I think they are perfect for touring. Glad you are on the mend from Covid which does seem to be doing the rounds again.

  2. Very glad to hear that you've found a replacement bike and that you're pleased with the choice.
I'm sure it feels a bit different to the Caribou.
The tyre section looks wider than the ones on the old bike. I've read today even the TDF bikes run fatter tyres at lower pressures . It seems there is no drag penalty and the softer tyres make for a more comfy ride. I prefer a smoother touring tyre but can see the advantages of a bit more grip. The seat post is a bit strange, I'm sure someone can explain the benefits.
Watching a tv programme on stealing it was shocking to see how few stolen bikes are recovered. It is a profitable business for some.
I heard of one chap who had a £200 'D' lock removed from his bike by thugs with a battery powered grinder. All you can ever do is make it difficult and keep a watchful eye on the bike.
    Thanks for the video.
