Cant fit Nexus shimano CJ-NX10

Hi every one
Does anybody know why my casette joint doesn't want to snap in place when aligning the yellow markings, but only when theyre misaligned??
First pic shows the position when it snaps into place and the second shows how it should snap in place but doesn't drop into the slot.
Any help would be much appreciated!
