This was no doubt dumb of me to do because I thought “673ft of elevation? That’s not bad.” Well, it is bad when you have to walk your bike up the entire elevation change because you’re absolutely gassed and are 4mi from the car still💀😂
I’m honestly thankful and impressed at how many cars gave me room even when I was in the shoulder on the main route starting my ride when I already had plenty. I saw three other cyclists so I’m led to believe this general area is more well trafficked than I’ve seen.
I don’t regret it though, it was fun and a great way to find my limit.

go for it OP
Gives hope to many of us. Go get it.
I was where you are a year ago. Now I’m doing centuries and 20mph group rides. Just gotta stay consistent, work hard, and you’ll be fast before you know it!
You’ll find yourself going back to it again and again. You’ll hate it every time while you’re doing it, but the reward of being a little bit better, a little bit faster each time is an awesome reward!
It happens to the best of us. I rocked the first 17 miles of my ride today. Unfortunately, the ride was 35 miles, and there wasn’t any place to stop that wasn’t getting baked by the sun.
Oh well, I’ll be stronger for next weekend
Make sure you’re getting energy to your muscles too. Anytime I’m out for a super long ride I’ll suck down some GU it’s amazing how much this helps on those last few miles.
