Hello all, just found this sub reddit in a good time as I've just been handed down a road bike from my father. The bike in question is a Nakamura pursuit 6.0 which have been ridden a small amount – probably 30 trips of 2 hours. The bike have been stored inside the last 8 years without maintenance, although it was minor maintenance before it was stored (somewhat washed).
I've done some work on dirt bikes before so not completely new to bike maintenance but would love for some inputs from far more experienced guys and gals on here.
How would you all go about maintaining it to put it back on the road in good condition?
My thoughts for now are:
-New tires – they are morn on the outside and have seen better days
-New tubes for obvious reasons
-New handlebar tape – some mold have gotten into the old one and the once nice white tape have become yellow with a hint of brown
-New seat – same as handlebar tape
-New pedals – some rust bit will see when I wash it down completely
-Complete wash down of everything
Are there anything I should be aware of or are areas of concern regarding the long time it's been put? Regreasing?
All inputs are welcome!
Cant wait to start the journey of road cycling, my plan is to commute with it and also get a roller to cycle indoors in the winter.
(If this isn't suitable for this sub mods can delete it)

Sounds good. I’d maybe throw in some new brake pads. Also I’d clean the chain and cassette with a degreaser of your choice (preferably off the bike) and, if you feel confident enough, regrease the hub bearings.
Check if your brake and shift cables run smoothly or if they corroded at some point. Id probably just get a new set as they’re not expensive and brakes are safety essentials.
