  1. WD-40 or another solvent, rubbing alcohol, a microfiber towel, and elbow grease! I’d check the balls in the bearings to make sure they’re not damaged. When you’re reassembling make sure to use grease on both bearings

  2. Any grease is fine. A headset barely even turns. Proper adjustment is more important.

  3. thats like a mild amount of gunk, for what it’s worth. astonishingly little amounts of grease though

  4. Update: Seems like the issue came from the stem cap being too tight. I’ll still clean the steerer tube though.
