Drove east for a while after work Friday, car camped and then left everything locked up in my car. My plan was to switch out the 40T front chainring for a 36T but didn’t have a Torx bit with me. Super glad I stuck with my 650b wheelset on 2.1 Mezcals.
Did 90km the first day, some great rolling gravel hills, single lane forest road. Some wet spots in the first hydro cut but it was pretty avoidable. Punchy climbs, some really fun riding.
Second day, I hit the first hydro cut a few kilometres from camp, the terrain was extremely rough and rocky. Lots of steep climbs and decents. 2/3 of the way through the trail I started to encounter flooded spots, between bush whacking and wading through the water I made it to K&P trail then climbed my way back to my car on a mix of gravel and pavement rollers. Day 2 was only 35km but way harder. Getting through the hydro cut was an absolute battle!
If I did this ride again I’d do it all at once, being loaded made the amount of climbing quite difficult but great camping!

Stainless steel frame, very nice.
Is this the earlier Columbus XCr one or the later austenitic SS frame?
