TLDR: Is this rim damage bad? I’m running tubes currently but would this damage make going tubeless an impossibility or compromise the integrity of the rim?
Bike: Stock 2021 Trek Farley 5, Bontrager Gnarwhal tires on Sun Ringlé Mulefüt 80 rims
I recently acquired this 2021 Farley 5 for winter biking. It’s my first fat bike and my only bike newer than 2005. I took it to my local single track trails to break it in. Well I definitely did cause when I slipped off of my front brake lever and ran into a fallen log the rear wheel must have smacked a rock or something and got a bit messed up. Not too bad but enough of a bump on a new bike to send me into that instant shock mode. No noticeable vertical or lateral wobble, just on that side of the rim.
