Hi all,

I run a small bicycle shop and mechanical workshop in Sydney, Australia. I've recently been approached by someone with a sizeable collection of beautiful vintage road bikes who has asked me to sell them on consignment. I have taken photos of many of them which are linked below:

The majority of these bikes are very high quality handbuilt steel road bikes built in the 1970s-1990s, using Reynolds and Columbus tubing. They were custom built according to the owners dimensions and are therefore all roughly 54-56cm TT and ST.

They are mostly from small boutique workshops in the UK (Mercian, Hetchins, Johnny Berry etc), along with some Australian stuff (Clamont, Paconi), and a few Italian frames. The majority of these bikes were updated around 2010 with then-modern componentry (Sram Apex, Sram Red, Campy record 10 etc.)

I would like to start shifting these bikes soon, either through my shopfront or online. I am more than happy to box them and ship overseas if there is demand. My problem is in knowing how to price them. There are few reference points online, especially given the obscurity of some of the brands.

So I come to you now looking for advice.

How should I go about pricing these bikes? Are there folks out there who can appraise them from a photo and come up with a suitable valuation?

Additionally, how can I best shift these bikes expeditiously while ensuring I get a fair price for them?

Any advice is very much appreciated – thanks!
