    Wakefield Police name family members killed in A61 crash in West Yorkshire



    Four members of a family of five were killed in a tragic crash on a rural road as loved ones pay heartwrenching tributes.

    Mum Shannen Morgan and dad Shane Roller were killed in the collision between a car and a motorbike on the A61 between Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and Wakefield, West Yorkshire, on Sunday afternoon.

    The crash also killed two girls, understood to be their daughters Lillie and Rubie.

      Regrettably death is part of our risks on the road, tragic for the families concerned. However taking a look at the bigger picture deaths occur daily with little comment.

      AS residents have said in the area, people are not travelling within the speed limits and there's nothing being done about it. Fixed speed cameras on roads of concern need to be a thing. Biker was speeding and on the wrong side of the road, all too familiar this is. Everyone is always saying how sad it is when someone has died, but not angry that we should be doing something about it

      Are there any insights into the nature of the accident? For so many people to die on the scene it must’ve been a very fast collision.

      Begs the question who was at fault? Comparatively straight level road but this happens. Obviously speed was a factor once again and one of the parties must have been in the wrong lane for whatever reason. Can’t imagine what that little girl is feeling right now as is all the families concerned. I just hope she’s got some super grandparents that can give her all the love her parents would have given her. So very very sad.

      Can we do something to improve road safety? We don’t know much details about this particular incident, but I regularly feel unsafe driving on road where I live (North London) or when I travel country side of this country. People take over unnecessary, put pressure on other drivers, show frustration with verbally….
      Is there anywhere I can report and share information (dash cam, reg number, etc) any bad drivers who can cause accidents and involve innocent people? Not sure reporting police would do anything in this country.

      I am not normally getting emotional about news but this one really hit me , what God would allow this ? The girl lost everything at 11 wtf is this what justice can be made there is no reparation what she can get this is just so unfair that made me hate every religious person on the planet for being so f..g stupid

      What’s the betting the motorbike was doing 100 round bends like always. The first to cry when something happens to them and yet constantly put them selves in silly dangerous situations.

      The hatch is there to keep traffic apart but some time people treat it as there own lane just saying and if your Not paying attention its an easy accident.

      It feels almost meaningless to even attempt to convey what I feel for the little girl who has been left alone in this world by this horrific tragedy. Then there are the relations and close friends… It’s unimaginable until it happens. We are all not far from facing a life sentence of loss, even an accident of this magnitude. Whether by accident or by folly. Life is so precious. My heart goes out to all of them.

      Looking at the road layout, I would hazard a guess that the car was in the layby and decided to do a u-turn, they probably didn't see/hear the bikes coming. Bikes probably going too fast. Just my opinion.

      It's truly heartbreaking, and it's very difficult to apportion blame, but when a motorcycle is involved the mind starts to wander a little, we live very close to a feeder road to the motorway, and we hear and see motorcycles traveling at horrific speeds, way beyond the speed limit.. I'm sure it gives them a thrill, but to what cost. Maybe the thought is, it won't happen to me, but all the time you push yourself and the machine, further and further..what a waste of life..

      Absolutely tragic and heartbreaking 💔 no words for the little life’s and parents taken too soon . God the only surviving family member I am absolutely devastated for you xx
