So I found this bike in a local furniture store and as I’m very new to this scene, I don’t know if it would be a decent base to start off with.
I wanted a retro MTB and as I can see this one’s more like a city bike but I guess there isn’t much of a difference in terms of the shape of the frame and the fork.
I’ve never heard of Matador as a bicycle manufacturer, but it’s equipped with all kinds of Shimano stuff so I guess that’s good. They are asking 30 000 HUF (~$83) for it.
Do you think it’s worth buying and getting into the xbiking world?

I’d buy it to build around that frame, it’s cool as hell

Oftentimes if a frame advertises Shimano right on the frame, they tend to be lower quality bikes but can’t tell the components from the image. And the seat stay weld looks pretty damn lumpy. That being said, the color palette is rad and the built-in generator bottle mount is a good enough reason for me to buy and build around that. I’d try to haggle down to half price though, especially knowing it’s a furniture store so it’s not their main product.
Cool color scheme all that would make a great beater, but its a very very cheap bike. I can tell by the crimped drop outs on the fork and the rear end that brake mount is a stamped piece of steel tack weilded to the seat stay usually only really inexpensive bikes are built that way. Big issue will be the bb crank set up. Def could just single speed it with a bmx crank and single speed wheel.
Looks fine to me, and it is a very cool looking bike. I’ve seen some say that the bike looks low quality or cheaply made, but it’s a rigid steel frame, no matter how cheaply made it could be, it’s still going to last a lifetime and probably more. The only components you could have trouble with are the shifters and derailleurs if they’re generic, but just replacing them with the cheapest Shimano you can find would be enough.
1-piece crank? I would pass.
I’m not in your market, but I wouldn’t pay over $50 USD for this. It’s a low quality bike with a cool paint job. As for the pricing, i’d compare this bike to ones from known brands and not pay more than half of a comparable known brand.

I would buy it for 30 dollars for the thumbies.
It’s a pretty color but that’s your basic average mediocre bicycle.
You can tell by the way the front fork dropouts are just smashed together.
I would not be interested in it but if I needed an extra bike, I’d take it.
I also would not throw a lot of money at it.
