Took my early aughts rockhopper on a four day trip along the OTET in Ohio a few weeks ago. Super fun ride- 95% paved bike trails with a few on-road pieces. I rode Columbus to Cleveland. Highly recommend as an easy, approachable tour for those starting out.
My approximate route:
—Downtown Columbus ➡️ The Berry Barn (48 miles), you can pitch a tent in the back of the parking lot for a few bucks
—Berry Barn ➡️ Millersburg (54 miles), stayed in hotel, no camping to be found.
— Millersburg to MetroParks Franklin (74 miles), camped at free rustic site.
—MetroPark ➡️ Cleveland (39 miles), got picked up by the family down by the beach.
For anyone wondering, the rockhopper has an old Surly 1×1 fork from a parts bin, Jones style alt bars, a janky 1×8 drivetrain from a bike store discard/discount pile and some 26×2 Kenda slicks off Amazon. Started out as a “dad bike” to ride with my kids around the neighborhood, but has honestly turned into my favorite one!

Nice build. A lot of that trail is my normal stomping grounds.
