I put this together after watching this video on objections to the Oxford St bike path in Paddington.

I’ve pulled together 2.5 minutes of video showing a wide range of mobility devices filmed around Sydney and Batemans Bay. The Eurobodalla Shire has a population that skews heavily towards the elderly – it is a retirement hot spot. In fact, The Eurobodalla area has the oldest population profile of all Australian councils.
The shared paths therefore see plenty of use from a wide variety of mobility devices – including golf buggies, manual and electric wheelchairs, wheelchairs with a third driving wheel, tricycles and all manner of “gophers”. They’re the perfect solution for people who are no longer physically or mentally capable of driving a vehicle.
You can draw your own conclusions as to who the Oxford St bike path will benefit.
