People selling 10+ years old bike over 1k are annoying.
BUT given the fact that for 500$ new you got nothing worth mentioning whereas that cannondale has ok quality components

Looks in great shape – I have one thoroughly battered by 11 years happy usage. I think they’re worth about £500 now.

This is a $300 maybe 400 bike. I doubt you can come to an agreement on price. An aluminum Synapse is not anything valuable, I would take that 1k and and buy either https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/contend-3-2022 or https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/contend-ar-4 new.

At the end of last season Cannondale had disc brake Sora Synapses on clearance for less than 1000.
