I had an old USPS 5800 Trek frame that was getting towards the end of its life and last year I started stripping it down randomly.
I sanded it completely down by hand, primed, repainted all myself finishing it off this year.
My goal was to modernise a 20 year old bike and have something a bit more loud in terms of colours and treat it more like a piece of art. It isn’t perfect by any means, but I decided to leave a couple of little imperfections on the frame as a good reminder that’s just what life is about to.
Took a lot of inspiration and ideas from ETOE on YouTube and had a lot of help from @savethepostalservice on Instagram. If you’re interested in painting your own… it’s a lot of work and stress and a bit of a process, but definitely very rewarding in the end.
