The bike was built by Monark who made bicycles and other things.
The engine was built by Albin, a company that normally built firefighting pumps.
The result was a bike called Motorcycle M42 by the military.
The first 300 bikes had side valve (SV) engines and rigid rear end then about 3000 more were built with OHV engine (TV) and sprung rear end.
All were called Model 42 although only the first were built 1942.
I have combined a TV with the rear end of a SV and removed some heavy military items. A 28 mm Mikuni replaces the horizontal throttle Amal. A Gold Star silencer and some lighter mudguards completes the build.
M42 were generally grey or green depending on year of manufacture, this bike is a mix of several bikes and not yet painted.
