Hello! My bike was recently stolen (off my back porch in a gated, fenced yard😭). I do live directly off a 10 mile trail, I think they jumped the fence.
Anyway, a common sob story, I know. But tbh, I had a bike that I was just making due with, that I bought about 15 years ago before I was "really" riding.
I included a photo just so you know what I've been working with. RIP Friend.

I'm primarily looking to find something more lightweight and better suited. I'm pretty overwhelmed since it's been so long since I bought a bike.
My budget is not big, at all. I'm open to a used bike if it gets me something better for the money.
I'm 5'4", about 140 lbs.
I live in a historic seaside college/tourist city that floods often – so mostly flat but can be windy, lots of bridges and the roads can be shite. Also, I'm in the US, but think European style infrastructure in terms of city layout, sizing
I think I need a more hybrid type because of our road "quality".
I'm by no means a professional, but I enjoy it and at my best I ride to work and back every day, which is 50 miles, plus some trail riding for fun. I'm fairly savvy for a recreational/mild commuter level rider.
Thank you for any advice, not sure what else I need to include?
