The #WhatBikeNext chaps are at the Milton Keynes branch of Superbike Factory to try and help #BikeSocial member Lisa find a 125cc machine to replace her Honda CB125F and encourage her to gain more confidence ahead of her big bike test. Can Simon Hargreaves and Michael Mann, BikeSocial’s second-hand #motorcycle experts, help Lisa?

  1. Cool to see Simon address the importance of letting people actually ride the bikes you're trying to sell them, especially after all the complaints in the comments about the very retailer they're collaborating with.

I'm in Belgium and at least for new big bikes the demo ride situation has improved a lot in the past few years. The importers for the big 4 Japanese brands do these demo/promo tours where they bring the same Benelux demo fleet to a string of dealerships and you can get a 30 minute tour on one or two bikes there no strings attached. Don't even need to state any intention to buy one in the near future or whatever, which ironically is exactly the sort of thing that makes me want to do business with them over the brands that are playing hard to get. Shows confidence in their products, too.

  2. Get the van van and keep it forever, use it for green laning.
Pass your test, then get the lunatic z400 sports bike as well.
2 small bikes better than 1 big bike

  3. Another great series chaps! Looking forward to another one if the budget permits!
The various guests & 3rd mystery selectors have all contributed greatly.
The main stayers are fantastic & dedicate their time & energy to make this series great viewing!
    Well done Bennetts!

  4. What a great episode. Good on ya for pointing out the issue with getting demo rides on 125s. I'm not on the superbike factory's naughty list, as I only watched this episode and didn't touch anything. Thanks for the lovely season, and hopefully the bosses approve season 3. Dear bosses, please approve season 3.

  5. It would be nice to see motorcycle brands cater for smaller riders, that's one of the issue I see a lot, and why we just don't see as many girls riding because they are naturally more smaller. 750mm seat height standards

  6. First of all, OF COURSE you have to make another season of this, it's a great series.

Now, about Lisa. Due to the nature of the segment, there isn't enough variation in bike specs to be had and as such not much variation in things able to do either. Basically all of them are commuter bikes. Thus I find it better getting something comfortable and easy to ride (like she felt on the VanVan) and get acquainted with biking as a whole. Variation and variety can come later, when they will be much better appreciated as well, since you get to stop thinking about riding and just ride. For someone looking to get seriously into it, 125cc is just a necessary but brief step

  7. WBN is a great series, and deserves to continue. I don't believe it really matters whether one of the three bikes is chosen or not. What makes it special is the banter, the interaction with riders, and getting the average person's view of a wide selection of bikes. Oh, and Michael and Simon shine.

  8. I've really enjoyed watching these programs. I wanted to suggest that the participant should choose one bike as well so test 4 bikes instead of 3 but great content and a great format

  9. I actually think that the fact that guests don't feel obligated to choose a bike at the end of the episode speaks to the genuineness of the show. I think of the episodes as educational for those who are looking to buy a new bike either as a seasoned rider or an absolute beginner. It teaches people what they might want to consider themselves in their search. So yeah I would love to see a series 3!

  10. I would have asked what bike she had been pillion on. The experience as a pillion on a sports bike will be a completely different experience to being a pillion on an adventure bike and therefore dictate the thrill she was looking for. She listed image as one of the deciding factors and the 1st bike presented to her was a monkey bike…..lol See her eyes light up when the GSXR-125 was presented to her. I have to say she looked awkward and somewhat uncomfortable riding it. The VanVan looked a sensible option and by her own admission she felt at home on it. My own thought was maybe an Aprillia but honestly I think she would be better served keeping the CB125, getting side miles under her belt and concentrating on her test.

  11. I had the CB125F as my first bike, the 11hp really struggled to get me uphill at speed and overtaking wasn't an option… I know the seat height was a big issue for her, but I wanted a CB125R for the full 15hp before I passed my full test

  12. Love this show. It's a shame no one actually chooses to buy the bike, so maybe for next season just skip all that "which bike will you buy" because it really puts the guest into hard spot.
Otherwise bike talk is great and I wish you many more episodes.

  13. In case Lisa wants to continue exploring, solely based on @TheMissendenFlyer videos about Carol's experience, she loved her Suzuki GSX-S125 (785mm seat height). Mrs. MessendenFlyer is also a shorty, her feedback on the videos seem quite positive towards the bike. So much so it gave her the confidence to take the mod 1 and mod 2 tests, which she was successful and the channel's viewers are now waiting to see which bike she's going to upgrade to.
