Bikes are Weird

So…I mostly MTB but I wanted to ride some gravel or road when it was wet outside. (I live in Louisiana so it rains annoyingly all the time) I bought an X a year ago or so and I honestly didn’t care for it from the beginning and I just tossed it in the garage and stared at it from time to time. My younger son (11) started getting really into bikes and I started riding the X around the neighborhood with him and whatnot and decided to fix a few things. Bars, tires, stem etc and now it’s a complete different bike. The drivetrain is still so so and the brakes are absolutely trash but it’s amazing how much a few little tweaks will change a bike. At the end of the day, I think I actually love this bike after neglecting it for so long.

  1. Couple tips as a fellow X owner. Get compressionless housing for the brakes, makes a world of difference. You can also drop nearly a full pound by getting the alloy spider version of the cassette and a cheap Deckas chainring.

I’ve got an X Ambition in the same color as you and the original X in the lighter green that was offered. Love both, I use my X Ambition for commuting/errand runs and my og X for gravel and long road riding. It’s a lot of bike for the money but you can definitely fall down the rabbit hole of upgrades quite easily lol.
