  1. Specialized Align II, the helmet with the best ratio protection/price according to Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings

The MTB helmets definitely feel like they even have a bit too much coverage for commuting needs, that’s why I also switched out to a road helmet. Probably a matter of taste and fit, but I guess any road helmet will do. Giro and Kask have pretty nice looking ones and if it doesn’t look too mushroomy on your head, POC works too. I have the POC omne air at the moment and i think it’s pretty nice, for what it’s worth.

  3. I’m waiting on a Specialized Mode, just shipped today actually. It’s like #8 on the Virginia Tech ratings; originally $120 but I was able to get it for $55 shipped.

Also it has less of a weekend warrior Fred look

  4. Specialized align 2 for my winter/cold commutes because it fits under hoodies, and kask utopia for my summer commutes when I’m trying to go faster.

  5. Bontrager circuit with wavecell.

It was on sale and the color is a nice metallic blue.

It has a boa style assistant system which is nice, but the older one had stiff plastic and was easier to put on without it scrunching up. Not a problem, just have to put it on carefully.

I went to REI in 2015 and picked out the one that looked the least gigantic on my head. Ended up being a Giro something or other.

    I should probably upgrade.
